JAWSARCHITECTS is committed to being a leader in our profession through the quality of our architecture and the manner in which we conduct ourselves in our business, our profession and our community.

Environmental Policy

JAWSARCHITECTS has a long history of designing environmentally effective buildings; from some of the early solar heated houses in Tasmania, through to a broader range of sustainable solutions. From the schematic design stage we explore and advise on innovative, low energy building solutions.

We are committed to ensuring new buildings are environmentally sensitive by responding to the site and local climate.

In determining a building form JAWSARCHITECTS take into consideration the benefits of natural ventilation, daylight and solar heating and work to integrate these natural rhythms with the structure.

We can advise on the selection of materials with lower environmental impact, water collection and reuse, and assist with the implementation of environmental rating tools such as 'Greenstar'.

Design Philosophy

Combining youth and experience, the practice encourages an interactive and collaborative design process within the office, producing exciting ideas that draw from a broad base of experience and perspectives.

Executing work for a wide range of corporate, domestic and commercial clients over many years has equipped the practice with a keen understanding of what makes a project successful; and honed our ability to achieve solutions which effectively meet the often conflicting demands of commercial viability and planning authority requirements.

We listen closely to our clients’ needs, recognizing the importance of creating a stimulating environment that defines their specific aspirations. Our design processes ensure that each project is multi-layered, creating solutions that engage with the users on a number of levels.

Taking an open approach free of pre-conceptions, we seek to imbue our buildings with qualities of light, space, materiality and a strong relationship to each setting. We play particular attention to placement of buildings to develop a unique dialogue between interior spaces and the external landscape.

Our skilled interior designers enrich the spirit of the architectural intent through joint development of internal detail to produce highly experiential buildings.
